Convert from Paint Shop Pro to something useful

I have some images in Paint Shop Pro format (.pspimage) that I can't open in Photoshop. I scanned the images from old pictures of my son and didn't want to rescan. I will not put another Corel product on my computers so I needed something else that would convert my old pictures.

After a quick internet search I downloaded IrfanView and the plugins from the IrfanView web site. After installing both, I clicked on the IrfanView Thumbnails icon on my desktop. Next I navigated to the folder containing the images I needed to convert. I selected all my pspimage files and clicked File >> Start batch dialog with selected files .... This brought up a new window. I selected the Batch Conversion radio button. I selected tif as my Output format. I clicked on Use current ('look in') directory to select my current directory to store the new images. Then I clicked Start Batch. In no time I had tifs that I was able to open in Photoshop CS5.

IrfanView was a free download. I've never used this program before so I don't know what else it can do. Definitely a program I will have to play with some more. Always learning.
